BromleyNET

In the past, the Bromley Homeowners Association has encouraged Bromley
residents, and those inter-ested in Bromley (former residents, individuals
who own property in Bromley in which they do not re-side, grown children
of Bromley residents, and so forth) to form a group on the e-mail, as yet
another form of communication, in addition to the Bromley Homeowners
Association Newsletter. If you would like your e-mail address added to the
BromleyNET distribution list, please send it to either copyrght@umich.edu
or sarhaus@umich.edu. You will be added to the list and a test message
will be sent to you. Please join us in this exciting venture in
neigh-borhood communications. Please also remem-ber to check the Bromley
Homeowners Association web site housed at http://www-personal.umich.edu/
~sarhaus (click on the appropriate link on that home page) to look at old
issues of the Bromley Home-owners Association Newsletter, many of which
contain articles on issues of enduring concern to the neighborhood.

Litter Matters

The Bromley Homeowners Association has received a number of complaints
about litter on Bromley streets and sidewalks, and lawns of generally
just too much litter. On garbage day, please remem-ber to place your trash
out in a secure container. Plastic bags are vulnerable to attack from
crows. Some report that crows appear to go after non-black bags more than
they go for black garbage bags (purely anecdotal). Also, please remember
to put your trash out on the morning of pickup, rather than the night
before. If you or your neighbor is a victim of crow or raccoon attack on
garbage, please help each other to clean up as soon as the mess is noted
so that it does not spread elsewhere. Indeed, turn it into a positive
situation and get to know someone you might not otherwise have met.

There are also other sources of litter. Parents might wish to remind all
in the family to not toss litter on the streets when walking to the pool
or park. Indeed, we might all wish to encourage each other, young and not
so young alike, to pick up stray trash when taking a walk through the
neighborhood. Some specific litter that has been noted includes toilet
pa-per on trees and beer cans and bottles in Bromley Park and in the Nixon
road grassy strip. Again, parents can be effective in monitoring what is
happen-ing. The consumption of alcoholic beverages in Bromley Park is
illegal; if they are consumed there by minors, then this is a double
whammy. When the actions of minors are not circumscribed effectively at
home, it can unfortunately become the case that society at large, when
affected by rude and incon-siderate actions of a few, may come to work
to-gether within the existing legal structure to curb the activities of
those who offend many. On the matter of alcohol in Bromley Park, such
structure is clearly present and is represented by a sign in the park.

Pets

The majority of serious complaints involve litter and possible behavioral
problems noted above. However, there are others concerning pets. Please
remember that Ann Arbor has a leash law; dogs must be walked on leashes.
It is also kind not to park your pet on someone else's lawn; and please
scoop up after your pet. There are so many nice pets; it is a shame when
the actions of a few reflect on a group as a whole.

Bromley Park

Thanks once again to the Hewens's for the lovely rose garden at the
northern edge of Bromley Park. It is one of the joys of living in Bromley.
As you enjoy the park during the summer, consider that toward the end of
the summer Bromley Park will once again be the site of the annual
all-Bromley "Farewell to Summer" party in the park. Watch for further
notice of this event.
