THANKSGIVING IN JUNE!

There have been so many kind Bromley residents who have been
immensely helpful to the
neighborhood; some whose activities should be noted at this time are
listed below.

Viviane Shammas--Viviane, who is an attorney, recently joined a law firm
in Detroit. Since
September of 1992 she has been BHA Treasurer. She reorganized the
treasury files, updated
them, and generally cared for them. Her new job prevents her from
continuing her outstanding
service to the BHA Board and so she has resigned as Treasurer and Board
Member. She has
been an active Board member, offering a wide range of valued advice on
matters of significance
to Board members and to the community at large. Whenever you look at the
yellow pages in
your Bromley Directory, think of Viviane--she sold most of the
advertising that makes the
directory self-sufficient! Some of the remainder of the funds she
raised were donated to Dolfins
Pool for their fund for a new roof. A big thank you, Viviane!

Anonymous--donated $300 to Dolfins Pool for their new roof fund. Thank you!!

Leonette Siegel--Leonette has resigned her position on the Dolfins Pool
Board (she and her
family are moving away from Bromley). Over the past several years,
Leonette has served as a
source of inspiration, motivation, and bright ideas; she learned about
numerous facets of pool
maintenance and donated countless hours of hard work to the Pool; BHA
appreciates much the
related information she was able to give them, as well. The Pool Board
and BHA send a big
thank-you to Leonette for all of her efforts.

Mary Ann Gasiorek--who organized the Bromley Garage Sales day. Thank
you!! The second
annual neighborhood garage sale was a big success!

Dolfins Pool Wish-List--thanks to all who responded to the wish-list
published in last month's
BHA Newsletter:
to Morris and Ann Taber who donated lawn chairs, a picnic table, and
a barbecue;
    to Priscilla Spencer and Rajeev Batra who donated a power lawn mower;
to Pei-Jung and Yun Pu Chang who donated a refrigerator.
These are all gifts that will make the pool a better-looking and more
enjoyable neighborhood
facility; it was so kind of these individuals to donate items to the
pool! Please be sure to use the
pool! If you have other items you think might be useful, call Colleen
Thurston, 663-9413.
Of particular use right now are hoses and help with maintenance.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIVING AND SWIM TEAMS--meeting for all interested parties and their parents.

Wednesday, June 2, at 7 pm at the Orchard Hills pool there will be a
meeting for any young
person, together with his or her parent(s), interested in joining a
swimming or diving team. The
teams will be formed so that different age groups may compete equitably.
The swim teams will
practice at the Orchard Hills pool; the diving teams will practice at
Dolfins Pool in Bromley.
There is a charge to join, with a minimum of $25 and a maximum of $60 per
family depending
on a number of variables. For further information, call: Colleen
Thurston, 663-9413.

SWIMMING LESSONS AT DOLFINS POOL

Dolfins Pool has been a very attractive site for swim lessons in the
past; the pool board
reports a number of very satisfied customers, even from outside Bromley.
This year the Pool
Board once again anticipates offering lessons; they will be likely to
start in July. Call the pool for
further information: 662-8855.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEIGHBORHOOD UNITY OPPORTUNITY

BHA recently gave $300 to Dolfins Pool to match a generous anonymous
gift. Dolfins has
had some hard times, but with the concerted effort of an enthusiastic and
hard-working board
Dolfins Pool is looking better and better all the time. What it needs
right now, and not a year
from now, is a new roof. BHA encourages the neighborhood to look within
itself for resources; is
it possible that one of us has access to providing shingles at cost (or
close to it); or that another
of us has access to plywood at low cost; or, yet another to labor at low
cost. Beyond the cash
gifts there may be ways that we can work together to repair and restore
this building. It is worth
repairing because the pool and the building are assets to the entire
neighborhood; beyond that, it
is worth working on a community project that involves inputs from various
sources as one of the
finest ways to promote good internal neighborhood relations. A unified
neighborhood is a
stronger neighborhood.
Call Colleen Thurston, 663-9413, or Sandy Arlinghaus, 761-1231, if you,
too, would like to help:

OPENING OF DOLFIN POOL, SATURDAY, MAY 29.

Please remember that we each own a little piece of the pool
property; the fair-share for tax
purposes for each of Bromley's 231 households is $30 per year. So, even
if you don't use the
pool (or have made other arrangements for swimming) please mail or drop
off your fair-shares to
Mary Ann Gasiorek, 2144 Prairie St., Ann Arbor, MI 48105. (Many newer
subdivisions have
various restrictions in their deeds and other provisions to cover this
sort of situation; it's nice to
think that in Bromley people are just cooperative and will remember to
participate on a voluntary
basis.)
If you want to join the pool, also contact Mary Ann; memberships
are still available as are the
associated free passes. Mail or drop off memberships to Mary Ann
Gasiorek, 2144 Prairie
Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.

BHA Board. Colleen
Thurston has agreed to fill out the remainder of Viviane Shammas's term
on the Board (until

BROMLEY GARAGE SALES DAY
by
Mary Ann Gasiorek

I would like to thank the Bromley Homeowners Association for
supporting the Bromley
Garage Sales Day and the Dolphin Pool Plant Sale. It was a great success!
-------------------------------------------------------------
PROTECT OUR OUTDOOR ANIMAL POPULATION
It can be very upsetting to watch a cat mangle a pretty cardinal, or a
goldfinch, let alone a full-
grown rabbit. If you put a bell around the neck of your cat, the birds
and other animals might
have an extra chance at life. Please consider putting a bell on your cat
when you let it out!

RECENT BHA ACTIVITIES

sidewalks.
2. Traffic light issue and ease of exit from Bromley--working with Ann
Arbor Public Schools (at
suggestion of Officer Kolpacki) and City.
3. Responding to various comments about issues in the malls from a
number of Bromley
