NEXT MEETING OF BROMLEY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION--MAY 11
The next meeting of the Bromley Homeowners Association is Thursday,
May 11, at 7:30
p.m. in the Library of Thurston School. There may be guests in addition
to the board
members. All Bromley residents are welcome.

BOTTLE AND CAN FUNDRAISER--MAY 12
Friday, May 12, 4 to 7 p.m.--Fundraiser for Dolfins Pool. Leave
your returnable cans and
bottles in plastic bags at curbside and pool board members will pick them
up, return them to
the store, and donate the deposit to the pool. This is a relatively
painless way to donate; and,
you get some service. Please consider this plan. Also, please consider
joining the pool--see
attached flyer--remember, the $35 assessment is due from Bromley
homeowners to pay for
taxes and maintenance. The cost to belong, as an active (swimming)
member, is in addition to
the assessment.

NEIGHBORHOOD GARAGE SALE DAY--MAY 13
The Bromley Neighborhood Garage Sale Day will be Saturday, May 13,
1995, 9:00 a.m.
to 2:00 p.m. Homeowners run their own garage sales and keep all
profits. The Bromley
Homeowners Association will pay for the ad in the newspaper. Signs will
be put up at every
entrance to our neighborhood. You will need to put a sign in front of
your house on May 13
to indicate that you are having a Garage Sale. A map with all
participating address will be
distributed before May 13.
If you would like to participate, please call Mary Ann Gasiorek at
996-4633 with your
name and address--to date there are 19 homes participating--remember,
this is an excellent
opportunity to have a garage sale of a size that suits your needs!

THE CITY IS A BROMLEY NEIGHBOR, TOO.
Of course no one would dump trash or yard waste in a neighbor's
yard! It can seem different
to dump yard waste and the like on City property: the City as a faceless
institution. The City is our
neighbor, too--along the buffer zones on Nixon and Huron Parkway as well
as in Bromley Park.
Any dumping that makes extra work for the city tends to require extra
trips of expensive
equipment. The extra funds required for such activity must come from
somewhere. If each of us
in the 231 Bromley homes pitches in by doing just a bit to help maintain
these common areas the
difference can be staggering. Here are a few constructive ideas:

1. When out for a walk, pick up a stray piece of paper or bottle, even
if it is not yours or not on
your property.
2. Consider disposing of your yard waste using the compostable program
of the City.
3. Point out to young people the suitability of disposing of waste in an
appropriate manner.
4. Pick up your own pet's waste.
5. Share creative, constructive ideas with others--enthusiasm is contagious.

The people in City Hall work hard to help us. They have regular
schedules for providing city
services. We can help our neighbors in City Hall by acting locally
between regularly scheduled
maintenance trips and by treating City-owned property as if it were our own.
