 STREET RENOVATION
A conversation with the Engineering Department of the City
produced the following schedule for street repair and
resurfacing (written information from the City will follow at a
later date). The project is scheduled to begin May 11 and to be
completed by June 24. The streets to be repaved are Prairie from
Plymouth to Burlington, Prairie from Renfrew to Bluett, and
Briarcliff from Prairie to somewhat north of Aurora. No doubt we
will all look forward to having these crumbling streets totally
redone! If you customarily park cars on the streets, you may
want to consider alternate sites; hopefully, with advance
warning, this will be feasible for all. This project will
benefit the entire neighborhood; cooperation between neighbors,
as well as between City workers and Bromley residents, should
help to draw the project to a successful close. The affected
streets will apparently NOT be closed all of this time--the work
will be done in stages during this time frame. So we probably
all need to be sensitive to what is happening during this
timeframe and to respond with patience and tolerance. Questions
were also asked about infrastructure repair--apparently a small
amount of this will be done, as needed.

"BROMLEY DAY"--CLEAN-UP, GARAGE SALE, BAKE SALE AND PLANT SALE!!
 SATURDAY, MAY 2, 1992.

 CLEAN-UP
BHA encourages the entire neighborhood to make this a clean-
up day--pull grass out of the street, pick up trash, clean out a
flower bed, help a neighbor who might not otherwise be able to do
these chores, work with a group of neighbors to clean up trash in
a cut-through, and so on. Support your neighborhood by getting
 involved.
GARAGE SALE BY MARY ANN GASIOREK
"Bromley Garage Sales Day will be Saturday, May 2, from 9:00
a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To date, there are 24 families participating.
To each garage sale household I will distribute a couple of
balloons to put near your address and a map indicating where the
 other sales are located.
One large advertisement will be placed in the Ann Arbor News
on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2. There is still time for
you to clean out the basement and join us. If you are interested
in having a garage sale, please call Mary Ann Gasiorek at 996-
 4633."
BHA notes that it supports Mary Ann in her venture and hopes
that even more households will participate!
BAKE SALE AND PLANT SALE AT DOLFIN POOL
During the time of the garage sale, on May 2, Dolfin Pool
will run a bake and a plant sale. To volunteer to bake for the
sale, please call Mary Sorenson at 668-6852. Pick-up is
 available for those wishing it.
Also, take advantage of the opportunity to pick up a few
plants for your yard as a reward to yourself for the good cleanup
on May 2--plants of various sorts will be on sale, as will
 hanging baskets.

 NEWS FROM DOLFIN POOL BOARD
                      POOL MEMBERSHIP "RAFFLE"
Households that pay their pool assessments or memberships before
midnight, Sunday, May 17 will be included in the "raffle" for a
paid-up family membership to Dolfin Pool. THE DRAWING FOR THIS
RAFFLE WILL BE HELD ONLY IF THERE ARE 150 ASSESSMENTS/MEMBERSHIPS
PAID BY MAY 17. SHOULD THE DRAWING NOT BE HELD, THERE WILL BE NO
REFUNDS. IF THE DRAWING IS HELD IT WILL BE HELD ON MAY 20. This
 membership  will be transferable and will be valid for one  year;
thus, if an individual who is a non-swimmer paid the assessment
out of a sense of doing what is right and a fair share, that
person might then delight another family member in the
neighborhood, a friend, or a neighbor by presenting it to them as
a gift. Or, a person with a fully paid family membership might
win and transfer the membership to the 1993 swim season. The
pool board wishes to be reasonable and flexible; conditions of
transfer (such as no cash refunds of any sort) and other terms of
the detail of the conditions of contest (including issues
involving free passes) are available from the pool board.
Remember, though, at least 150 assessments/memberships must
be received by midnight May 17 in order to have a drawing. So,
this is one "pool" into which it pays to recruit your friends and
neighbors! Send checks to Leonette Siegel, 2875 Briarcliff.
 POOL BOARD MEMBERS:
Chairman, Ken Reader; Membership, Leonette Siegel; Pump Room,
Mike Banach; Secretary, Joan Johnstone; Treasurer, Colleen
 Thurston;   Swim   Team,   Joan  Johnstone  and  Marie   Kilbane;

 RESULTS OF BHA QUESTIONNAIRE.
The results of the questionnaire circulated with the last
Newsletter have been forwarded to the City (including a numerical
tally of rank-ordered data as well as all comments). This is
input from our neighborhood that they requested (as a consequence
of the BHA meeting with Mayor Brater). The numerical results
 were:
 Question
 number a b c
 1 7 18
 2 16 9
 3 6 16
 4 11 7 3
This tally shows first choices--7 chose a light at Nixon and
Bluett; 18 at Nixon and Huron Parkway (26 questionnaires were
returned). 16 voted for an island; 9 against. Question 3 was in
error; generally, people were opposed to restrictions on turning.
Question 4: 11 first choices for mulch and trees; 7 for extra
green space taken from Huron Parkway; 3 for berm.
Residents along Briarcliff were polled individually, as
well. There were 8 first choices there for mulch and trees and 4
first choices for taking space from Huron Parkway. Most wish to
 have the sidewalk remain.
When second and third choices are taken into account the
following tally results for question 4:

 #4 a b c
 CHOICE
 first 10 8 3
 second 2 3 6
 third 4 2 4

Briarcliff residents only in affected homes

 #4 a b c
 CHOICE
 first 8 4
 second 3 2 1
 third 1 1

Choice a is trees and mulch
Choice b is extra space from Huron Parkway
 Choice c is a berm

Again, many want sidewalk left plus barrier to noise and
 pollution.

 POSTAL MATTERS
Following queries from residents on Aurora, it is indeed the
case, according to the Green Road Post Office, that Aurora is now
part of a "regular" rather than an "auxiliary" postal route. The
new postal carrier on this route is a "regular" carrier. Aurora
was apparently assigned "regular" status about six weeks ago.
AS ALWAYS, PLEASE REMEMBER TO USE OUR FINE POSTAL SUBSTATION
IN PLYMOUTH MALL--A BIG THANK YOU TO THE PEOPLE WHO STAFF THAT
 FACILITY!!
 -----------------------------------------------------------------
 LETTERS
The Ann Arbor City Planning Commission sent a note to BHA

announcing the appointment of Karen Popek Hart, AICP as City

Planning Director. A note was sent to her from BHA.
Several letters following up on our last BHA meeting have

been received by BHA from Mayor Brater.
A letter was received from the Ann Arbor Public Schools

Transportation Department concerning school bus routing--that

issue is still being worked on and a letter was sent to the City.
From Francis L. O'Brien Center for Youth Development, a

letter asking for publicity in recruiting foster parents. If

 interested, call 971-7870.

Association in anyway please let us know. We will be glad to
 help in any way possible.
