BROMLEY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
NEWSLETTER, APRIL, 1993.

DOLFINS POOL--ANNUAL NEIGHBORHOOD ASSESSMENT TIME.
Since Dolfin Swim Club is jointly owned by all Bromley property
owners, the Pool Board asks
each year that property owners pay their fair share of the property tax
on the pool, its buildings,
and its land. BHA strongly supports the pool and the Pool Board and
encourage all homeowners
to support this valuable neighborhood asset, whether or not you use it.
The annual assessment
for tax purposes is $30 per household. If you send your payment on or
before March 31, 1993,
you will receive 8 guest passes to the pool (after March 31, only 6).
Send assessments to
Leonette Siegel, Membership Chairman, 2875 Briarcliff, Ann Arbor, 48105.

POOL FUNDRAISER--RAISE THE ROOF ON THE POOLHOUSE!!
Each home in Bromley should have received a packet from the pool,
including a blue flyer
describing costs for pool memberships and swimming activities (distinct
from the tax
assessment). This packet also includes a colorful package describing a
fundraiser. The pool
house needs a new roof. Pool board member Rebecca Crawford had the
clever idea to use a
successful concept employed by a number of home marketing firms in order
to raise money.
Please consider the material in this packet; if you have questions call
or write to Rebecca
Crawford, 2806 Briarcliff, Ann Arbor, MI 48105; 996-9548.

BROMLEY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION--MARCH 18 MEETING
CHIEF DOUGLAS SMITH GIVES TALK ON "C.O.P";
MAYOR LIZ BRATER MAKES CAMEO APPEARANCE
Chief Douglas Smith, Chief of the Ann Arbor Police Department, spoke
to us about
Community Oriented Policing (COP); members of other neighborhoods in
northeast Ann Arbor
were invited as well. The group of about 30 enjoyed a spirited talk from
the Chief, complete with
interesting graphics, to explain the community-oriented philosophy to
policing in which officers
interact with the variety society has to offer in order create a social
unit, at the neighborhood
level, within which there is mutual trust between law enforcement
agencies and citizens. Chief
Smith emphasized the importance of getting young people involved;
clearly, it is important for all
of us to interact with our fine officer, Tom Kolpacki, on a regular
basis. It is also important for us
to encourage our children to interact with him.
BHA strongly supports COP; if residents of Bromley think of some
constructive way to
support this effort, by all means pass it along to Kolpacki directly
(994-2875), or to him through
BHA. We were all delighted that Mayor Brater could also stop by for a
few minutes just prior to
the Chief's talk. She spoke to us of her support for COP and conveyed,
in person, her apologies
for the harassment that has come to a number of households over the snow
removal issue (for
the correction notices issued to homes with already-clean sidewalks). It
is nice to see a sort of
continuum of support for COP--from the neighborhood level through to the
Mayor's office.
BHA thanks Officer Tom Kolpacki for suggesting the idea of having a
meeting with the Chief.
The Chief's explanation was informative and interesting and provoked
interaction at the meeting
level which we hope will be carried forward to the neighborhood level.
Remember that Officer
Kolpacki is available, knowledgeable, and helpful! Thanks to all who
came to the meeting.
