Bromley Homeowners Association
Newsletter

Welcome
The Bromley Homeowners Association welcomes, as it has in the
past, new residents to Bromley. For many years, ours has been a
neighborhood known to have a strong homeowners association, anxious to
support neighborhood projects and to keep abreast of Bromley's status
within the City as a whole. To join the Homeowners Association, dues
$5.00 annually, call a board member. BHA welcomes homeowners and renters
alike as members of the association. If you haven't already done so,
please remember to pay your annual dues to Colleen Thurston-or, leave
checks in the box on her front porch, along with your name, address, and
phone number.
Dues go to building the treasury of BHA (non-profit) which are
then used to produce the BHA Newsletter, distributed to all homes; the BHA
Directory, distributed to all homes; and, to provide neighborhood
Bromley-grants to worthwhile neighborhood projects. In the past, grants
have gone to Dolfins Pool, to Scout troops for plantings in Bromley Park,
to support all-Bromley functions such as garage sales, neighborhood
parties in Bromley Park and the like.
Also, please remember to consider Bromley's Pool-Dolfins Pool. A
yearly assessment of $35.00 from each home in Bromley was set years ago as
part of having a neighborhood pool. Unfortunately, that assessment was
not written in as a deed restriction, so often new neighbors are unaware
of this situation. BHA takes the stance that certainly it is in the best
interest of all if the pool is maintained; hence, we encourage all to pay
their $35.00 and view it as a "fair-share" for pool maintenance and
property taxes. The pool board will have flyers announcing rates to join
the pool, for swimming privileges, for the season. Consider joining this
fine rectangular pool, with lap-swimming lane and diving board.

Spring is Coming.
In the last newsletter, we noted the appropriateness of picking up
after pets, so that as the snow melts, all we see are nice flowers.
Indeed, the many bushes that have lain dormant over the winter will once
again spring forth, brightening the neighborhood; Stella Steiner says she
has now planted, over the years, eight lilac bushes and more flowers,
shrubs, and so forth than can be easily enumerated here, in the public
right-of-way on Nixon Road. To maximize enjoyment of these, and other
plantings, consider on some pleasant weekend or evening, taking a walk and
picking up trash around the neighborhood in the various common
areasTparticularly along Nixon and along Huron Parkway. A clean, neat
neighborhood is a safer one, in addition to being a more enjoyable one.
Those of us who do not live adjacent to a common area might well consider
putting in a little effort to help clean these areas in support of the
many residents, such as Stella, Ray and Therese Anderson, Irene Stock, and
the Hewens's, as well as others, who do regularly take it upon themselves
to do more than their share in care of common lands. Let's pitch in to
support these caring homeowners and make our neighborhood one that shines
all the time.

Bromley Directory
Once again, the Bromley Directory is being updated. The most
recent one is over one year old. Please call in changes to 761-1231 and
leave a message on the answering machine. BHA hopes soon to produce the
next directory.

Pool
Dolfins Pool is doing well, thanks to the support of the many fine
neighbors who have been buying their groceries using the Kroger
fund-raiser.  Please remember to buy your Kroger gift certificates;
contact a BHA board member to find the names of pool board members who are
currently selling certificates.

Garage Sales
Spring house-cleaning time, and all that it entails, will soon be
upon us. In the past, there have been a number of garage sales
opportunities. If you are considering having a sale, check first with BHA
to see if there will once again be a grouping of homes participating in an
all-Bromley garage sale. You might as well take advantage of the extra
traffic generated by a neighborhood-wide saleTthat way, you can sell a
little or sell a lotTyou keep all the proceeds from selling your items in
your driveway/garage.
