BROMLEY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION, JANUARY, 1995, NEWSLETTER
------------------------------------
SPECIAL EDITION

BROMLEY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
With many thanks to all who served on the Board of Trustees of the
Bromley Homeowners
Association (BHA) from September 1993 through 1994, the BHA now moves
forward into the new year.
Particular thanks are sent to Marie Kilbane, Co-chair, who worked so hard
on behalf of the
neighborhood; Cindy Baker, Secretary, has served the board with great
skill and wisdom for four years,
as has Mike McConnell who is also forced off the Board by term limits.
Ken Reader, also Co-chair,
retires as well. Continuing members are Irene Stock, Tushar Gadhia, Joan
Johnstone, and Colleen
Thurston. Because of difficulty scheduling meetings during the fall, the
annual elections have been
postponed briefly. In the interim, former BHA President, Sandy
Arlinghaus, and former BHA Vice-
president, Elfriede Hofacker, have agreed to fill two of the open slots
and resume their previous roles as
officers until they, or others, can be elected to fill these positions;
both are happy to continue to serve in
these positions and will assume the roles of interim President and
Vice-President as of January 1, 1995.

BROMLEY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION DIRECTORY: BROMLEY GRANTS
Volunteers are needed to solicit advertising from local merchants
for the annual BHA directory; the
funds raised as a result of this effort are used to produce the directory
itself and to create "Bromley
Grants" for projects of various sorts within Bromley. Previous grants
have gone to Dolfins Pool, to
scouts to plant bulbs in Bromley Park, and to a variety of other small
neighborhood projects. If you
wish to work on the directory, or if you have any concerns about the
directory, call Sandy (761-1231--
please leave a message on the answering machine--calls will be
returned). Also call that same number if
you have ideas for Bromley grants! Constructive commentary is always
welcome.

DOLFINS POOL
Ideas for fundraising, and people to implement them, are needed
during the slack season at the pool.
Remember, Dolfins is a valuable neighborhood resource. Call Colleen
Thurston, 663-9413, if you are
willing to work to help raise funds, or to contribute ideas, for the
restoration of this important
neighborhood resource.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
How fortunate we are to have not only a responsive central police
presence in City Hall, but also a
police mini-station right in our back yard in Traver Village. The number
of the mini-station is 994-
8107; the number of the neighborhood watch office in City Hall is
994-8775. The police are there to
help you; if you see something that is suspicious, call them before you
are certain that something is the
matter. Indeed, call either of these numbers, or call 911.
Remember--err on the side of caution.

TRASH MATTERS--Weekly pick-up
New neighbors might wish to note that curbside trash pick-up is
provided by the City; Wednesday is
our pick-up day. When there is a holiday in the week prior to Wednesday,
the pick-up is often delayed
until Thursday; check the Ann Arbor News or call the City for further
information.

BROMLEY ONLINE--ELECTRONIC ARCHIVES
Bromley Homeowners Association Newsletters are being archived using
"ftp" (file transfer protocol);
those with access to MTS can read them. They are archived on donated
space on an external MTS
account. Some files are already archived, starting with the most recent,
and more will be added on a
continuing basis. From the MTS pound sign, follow the sequence below to
retrieve files.
ftp; open um.cc.umich.edu; anonymous--follow instructions that pop-up
after typing anonymous;
cd iesk; ls; get nsletbrm.993; then list or download. The file names
are intended to be merely
suggestive of content, as is a newspaper headline. Thus, "nsletbrm.993"
is intended to suggest that the
file contains a newsletter from Bromley for September, 1993.

DOG OWNERS
There are so many nice dogs in Bromley; most residents are good
about walking their dogs on
leashes and in scooping up after them. Please remember to keep your dogs
on leashes and to make
certain that they are generally supervised in a manner, wherever they
are, that conforms to city code. A
leash helps to protect others from your dog, and offers you a level of
control that enables you to protect
your pet.

YOUTHBANK--whatever you have already, Charles--this is out of date!
