Land Survey Project Strategy

Project Deliverables:

· Compilation of Current Maps, gather data and existing resources from other organizations

· Original Maps from gathered data, determine what data exists that needs to be mapped

· CD Format for task members

· Needs Assessment Report, determine what GIS data deficiencies exist for the Downriver waterfront communities

November 1st- 7th

-Begin contacting other organizations that has done work in this area

1. Wayne County GIS

2. USGS

3. Eastern Michigan University

4. Detroit Edison, Ford, and other private businesses

5. 8 municipalities

-Make assessments of what data/maps are available and where the gaps are

November 8th - 14th

-Gather data and compiling existing maps

-Determine what data is relevant and what could be made into maps as well as appropriate level of detail (tax parcel, etc.)

· Use GIS contacts at U of M, Sandra Arlinghaus and Urban Planning staff to assist in strategy for map productions and to determine achievable objectives

November 15th -21st

-Continue compilation effort and coordinate a useful and attractive format for final report

-Begin production of original maps using Arcview GIS and other appropriate tools

November 22nd -28th

-Continue working on producing maps and organizing format for final report

November 29th - December 6th

-Finalize Report

-Make any necessary changes and prepare for Task Force Presentation, December 8th
