CELL
An autonomous self-replicating unit that may constitute an organism or be a sub-unit of multicellular organisms in which individual cells may be more or less specialised for particular functions. All living organisms are composed of one or more cells. |
ORGANELLES | Description |
Nucleus | This is the control center of the cell. |
Mitocondria | This is the powerhouse of the cell, where energy is produced. |
Endoplasmic Reticulum | This transports proteins from the nucleus. |
Golgi Apparatus | This produces and packages protein. |
Ribosomes | Ribosomes are sites of protein production. |
Lysosomes | Lysomes are membrane-bound vesicles that are involved in intracellular digestion. |
Vesicles & Vacules | Vesicles & Vacules are membrane-bound sacs involved in the transport and storage of materials. |
Microbodies | Microbodies are membrane-bound organelles specialized as containers for metabolic reactions. |
CELL STRUCTURE | Description |
Cell Membrane | This surrounds the cell. |
Cytoplasm | This is the packaging of the cell. |
