"The living cell is to biology what the electron and proton are to physics. Apart from cells and from aggregates of cells there are no biological phenomena."

Alfred North Whitehead. (1925)

LESSON PLANS

In this lesson students will compare the structure and function of a cell to a city.

Cellular Exploration Activity

In this activity students will encounter and describe the structures of a cell in a simulated exploration.

POE Cell Lab Activity

Students will observe plant and animal slides under a microscope. Students will also compare and contrast the different cells they observe.

The Pond Water Investigation

Students will take water samples from a pond. They will observe and document the different cells and life forms under a microscope. Then the students will create experiments to see how these different organisms are effected by various factors (i.e. chemicals, temperature, light).
