How have I modeled Buffers?
What I decided to do was to experiment making buffers in various ways. I wanted to try and incorporate as many aspects of the "SpaDRBuM" (see What are Buffers?), particularly including the effects of the local topology on where the riparian buffer should be.
Before I could begin to model any river buffers, I first needed some data with which to work with. After some searching, I decided to download via the WWW some data I found regarding Alaska. The National Park Service has an exceptional GeoSpatial Clearinghouse for Alaska which can be found at: "http://www.nps.gov/akso/gis/".
