Damon Salesa is an historian who is currently an associate professor of history at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.


He researches, writes and teaches about the histories of empires, the Pacific Islands, and has a special interest in Polynesia, especially New Zealand and Samoa.


He also keeps a (occasional) blog, www.TheAmericanLake.com, about historical and contemporary coverage, entanglements and engagements between the U.S. and the Pacific Islands (and Pacific Islanders).
