The Ann Arbor Art Fair is one of three simultaneous
art fairs which take place on the streets of Ann Arbor
in mid July, covering 30 blocks of downtown.
|
|
|
There are over 750,000 visitors who attend this four-day
event displaying works of over 1100 juried artists.

One of my favorite artist who appears at the art fair
every year is Ducan McClellan with
his hand blown glass vases. You get to appreciate the amount of work that goes
into each piece after learning the number of steps thats
involved making each vase.

Not everything at the art fair need be expensive.
Here is a booth selling a wide selection of candles
of different shapes and colors. You could spend as little
as $10 on small items sold here, or if you're just window
shopping and hungry the art fair is good for the vast selection of
food (like funnel cakes, elephant ears, ... mostly junk foods).

Mannequin |
Rocking Chair |

This little lady certainly drew a large crowd around its booth.
The artist here makes life like mannequin with exquisite detail,
the security guard in the background is a mannequin too.

|
Rocking chair made by Carl Gromoll who makes lots of other kinds of
great furniture based on wood laminate. For more examples of his
work visit his website.

Russell Donnellon is one of the many entertainers you'll find
on the corner drawing large crowds of admiring fans. You'll also
find Peruvian bands, Jamacian calaypso reggae bands and many other
ethnic bands that perform for the duration of the art fair.
|
|
|
Apart from enjoying the carnival like atmosphere that
is present with large crowds shopping at hundreds
of booths featuring all kinds of art, I enjoying talking to
the artists and getting ideas from the photographers who've
worked for magazines like National Geographic.

Weather vane |
Hillary Clinton Fan Club |
|
Want a fancy looking weathervane? Well, look no further
than this booth selling rather creative and unorthodox
vanes. Rather colorful aren't they?
|
|
|
You can find all sorts of booths and stalls selling
a variety of art to different kinds of foods, drinks,
entertainers, religious ideas, political groups you name it.
Ann Arbor in those four days has got it.
