Welcome Kids & Parents
to a Place Full of
Books and Activities

This page is about kids and adults reading and doing activities together. It's about realizing all of the ideas that reading can give you and all of the different places that reading can take you.  It's about spending time together, the most important thing of all. For each picture book listed below, you'll find some ideas for related activities, links to related web sites, and some other recommended books to read! These picture book pages are designed for adults and kids to look through and do together. That way, both the adults and kids get the most fun out of the deal.

Here is the list of books from which you can choose:

The Carrot Seed
by Ruth Krauss
illustrated by Crockett Johnson
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
by Laura Numeroff
illustrated by Felicia Bond
Shapes, Shapes, Shapes
by Tana Hoban
The Snowy Day
by Ezra Jack Keats
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
by Eric Carle

In addition, there is a resource page for parents that offers links to important sites related to children's literature and family activities. This page also talks about the ideas behind the importance of reading and doing activities together.
