INSTRUCTIONS FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS REQUESTING LETTERS


If you would like for me to write you a letter of recommendation (and I have not done so previously), please contact me to set up a time to discuss the strength of the letter that I feel I am currently in a position to write. (Please note that you should give your professors at least three weeks to prepare a letter.)

 

Once I have agreed to write for you, please provide me with the following materials:

 

1. Information on each position to which you are applying.
2. Information on when each letter is due.
3. Details on how each letter is to be sent.
4. Stamped / addressed envelopes (if the letter is to be mailed).
5. Any forms requiring my signature.
6. Your CV.
7. Examples of your best academic work.
8. Any written materials you will be submitting with your application.
9. Notes on anything in particular that I should emphasize for each position.
