The Passing of Daniel Warner of Damascus

Daniel Warner, who doubtless was the oldest resident in Henry county,
passed away last Thursday at the home of his son, Willis, in Damascus
township. The deceased was born in Frederick county, Maryland, on Nov.
27th, 1810, being past 96 years of age at the time of his death. In
1834 he moved to Ohio and settled near Tiffin, living there until 1854,
when he moved into Wyandot county, near McCutchensville. While
residing here Mr. Warner united with the Methodist Episcopal church and
remained a faithful member until his death. He was instrumental in the
founding of the Bethel M. E. church to which he belonged since living
in Henry county. In 1861 he moved to the farm in Damascus township
where the rest of his days was spent. On March 29, 1838, he was united
in marriage to Rebecca Ransburg, and to this union 10 children were born.
3 girls and seven boys, all living at present but two: Mrs. Longnecker,
Mrs. Titus and Mrs. Hockman and G. W., Randolph, Sylvester, D. L.,
Jesse Hiram, O. A., and W. J..

He leaves to mourn his departure one sister, Mrs. Lawhead, of
Prarie Depot, 8 children, 27 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and
a host of acquaintances.

Funeral services were conducted from the Olive Branch U. B. church
by Rev. W. W. Constien, assisted by Revs. Davis and McCurdy, last
Sunday afternoon.
