I've talked about some of the things I think are good elsewhere, i.e., bikes, gardening, knitting and spinning. There are some other things too, but I didn't really have enough to say about any of them to give them their own section, so I've just lumped them all together here on a page of Misc. Happy Good Things.
Fuzzy Bunnies are Nice! -- Frida and Rudy are professional fuzz therapists. When you're petting a bunny, everything's ok...
Music -- some of the music that makes me happy.
Food -- some of the food that makes me drool.
Here are some misc. things that make me smile, laugh, or just make life easier:
Frazz and Get Fuzzy -- my two favorite comic strips, which I usually read in the newspaper (I'm incapable of eating breakfast without reading a newspaper at the same time), but you can read them here.
Sluggy Freelance -- an online comic that I somehow stumbled into years ago because it had a bunny in it. Not a nice bunny, though. A switchblade-wielding bunny. Bun-Bun may be dead now; it's not clear. But there are enough other zany characters to keep things weird.
Found Magazine -- a magazine of found stuff. People find some pretty weird stuff.
Peep Research: a study of small fluffy creatures and library usage -- a group of marshmallow peeps visited Staley Library at Millikin University during the week of March 17-21, 2003 to do some research and to have their research practices observed by the Office of Fluffy Research. (Some people have the idea that people who work in libraries are dull. This is a misconception.)
Squirrel Fishing -- Nikolas Gloy and Yasuhiro Endo of the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University present their study to measure squirrel performance. No hooks were used and no squirrels were harmed in the study.
http://tinyurl.com/ -- I find it really annoying when someone emails me a URL that's six lines long. Don't. Instead, go to this website, paste in the URL, and they'll give you a short URL, i.e., a tiny URL, that will redirect you to the original site and will never expire. If you're going to email me a URL, don't send me one that's more than one line long. Email me a tiny URL.
The Librarian Action Figure -- Nancy Pearl is a real live person, a real live librarian, and there's an action figure that really looks like her!
Cthulhu for President -- As the site says, "Why vote for a lesser evil?" Actually, I like Cthulhu's campaign position on Disney.
Bite the Wax Tadpole -- some hilarious international marketing blunders caused by translation errors.
Bunny Survival Tests -- marshmallow bunnies, that is. According to the site, marshmallow bunnies "are fairly brave, intelligent creatures." Wow, who knew?
Strawberry Pop-Tart Blow-Torches -- "Abstract: Strawberry Pop Tarts may be a cheap and inexpensive source of incendiary devices. Toasters which fail to eject Pop Tarts cause the Pop Tarts to emit flames 10-18 inches in height."
Shakespearean Insulter -- usually if someone insults me, I don't think it's hilarious. At this site, I actually say "Insult me again!"
Irregular Webcomic! -- a comic strip done with photos, mostly of Lego people. When I discovered it, I read the first 100 in the archive in one sitting. It's hilarious!
Casey & Andy -- a comic strip about two mad scientists (who die multiple times, but never permanently) and their girlfriends, one of whom is Satan.
Bubblewrap -- everyone loves popping bubbles on bubblewrap! Bwahaha!
Building a Lego Dulcimer -- my ex-husband built what is probably the world's only Lego dulcimer (or at least the world's first Lego dulcimer -- maybe someone else will be inspired).
Says Who? Says God -- According to this website, God considered a libel suit after seeing all the banal utterances attributed to him on numerous billboards, but instead decided to mount his own ad campaign.
Every OS Sucks -- A hilarious Quicktime video by Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie.
Pooch Café -- The adventures of Poncho, a dog who's completely nuts, and his pals. The way the dogs are drawn is pure eye candy.
