The mission
of the Laboratory for Optimization and Computation in Orthopaedic
Surgery (LOCOS) is to improve the quality
and reduce the cost of
musculoskeletal health care though collaborative
research and quality improvement projects. LOCOS projects use techniques from
biomechanics, machine learning, clinical epidemiology, and operations research.
Projects are conducted in close collaboration with orthopaedic
surgeons.
LOCOS
is associated with the Departments
of Orthopaedic Surgery, Biomedical Engineering, and Industrial
& Operations Engineering.
For more
information about recent LOCOS research activity, see the latest LOCOS newsletter.
Students
interested in becoming involved with LOCOS activities should complete a new student questionnaire and
email it to rehughes@umich.edu. After
joining LOCOS, students are given access to LOCOS wiki.
