Sonic Launcher / Sonic Rotation

Keely's Musical Rotating Sphere (23 Mar 03)

Ok, here are few more interesting experiments I have preformed using my high power Piezo Electric transducers. In this first experiment I am able to make the sphere (stainless steel ball bearring) to rotate by just using sound. The mechanism is most likely the well known slip-stick phenomenon, but I find this interesting because Keely was said to have made a sphere rotate when excited with sound. This is yet one more verification of Keely's claims.

Ok, I found a way to greatly increase the power of the sonic propulsion without destroying the piezo electric unit. The top pic is a close up of the (side view) of the aluminum foil disc I am launching. The bottom picture is of that same disc being launched from the piezo electric element at such a speed, that it shows up in the picture only as a blur. The idea is that there are typical energy levels at which things break, structures disintegrate, and substances disassociate. Power on the other hand is Energy per unity time. If we keep the time short enough, we can push a lot of power through our system before it breaks. Here I'm applying about 120V to a speaker element that is rated for 30V. The key is that I flip the power on and off pretty quickly to avoid damaging the unit. Since the Q of the sonic cavity is reasonable high, you do have to keep the power on for a second to reach the cavities maximum output power level. (when I say second here I mean in the casual sense, and not exactly 9.192 631 770 billion oscillations of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the cesium maser in an atomic clock, anyway you get the point) When the cavity is excited to this power level, the Aluminum foil disc is launched into the air at an impressive speed. You can download a video on the disk being launched below.

Good experimenting all, and remember if you see a skeptic don't let them get you down. Just because they lack vision, creativity and generally an ability to formulate an original idea of thier own, doesn't mean they are beyond hope. Just remind them that a skeptical mind is an unscientific mind. This is bound to make their day. (please refer to chaper 11, 'entrenchment of beliefs' in the book of 'bad scientific pracitces',by Yahoo's and skeptics who think they know it all, et al.) There is nothing scientific about mindlessly defending the Status Quo.
