Vishwakarma Institute of
Technology (V.I.T) is a highly commendable private Institute that occupies a place of pride
among the premier technical institutes in the Western region of India.
Established in 1984, financed and run by the Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal
Charitable Trust, it is affiliated to University of Pune, recognized by
Government if Maharashtra, and is approved by A.I.C.T.E. (All India Council of
Technical Education), Within a decade, Institute marched towards the pinnacle
of glory through its remarkable achievements and laurels in the field of
Engineering education. The Institute has won a place for itself for promoting
skills in high caliber technical education. Overall it is ranked second on the
basis of academic performance of the students among the Engineering colleges
affiliated to the University of Pune. The college spreads over 17 acres of land
comprising of academic building areas, playground, hostel and staff quarters
with built up area 16,600 square meters.
It has at present 2160
students, 100 faculty members, 51 laboratories having instruments worth Rs.5
Crores and 200 administrative and technical staff.

Academic studies combined with individual and group research projects prepare
the students for the professional practice of engineering. It is thus dedicated
to excellence and committed to the development of bright and devoted engineers.
The college offers Bachelors
degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication,
Chemical, Computer, Instrumentation, Industrial, Production and Information
Technology (IT) Engineering. It also offers Masters degree M.E. in Mechanical
(Heat Power Engineering). The duration of Bachelor’s degree course is four
years and Master’s degree course is one and half years. The college also offers
Management Courses such as DBM, MBA. It has six full-fledged Departments with
faculties who are imbued with a quest to promote engineering and technical
education.
Admission to undergraduate courses are based on the marks obtained in physics, chemistry, and mathematics sections in Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (HSC STD XII, under the 10+2 pattern) or equivalent examinations. The competitions is extremely keen and admission is restricted to less than the top 1.0 % of the candidates appearing for the said examination. It is a matter of justifiable pride and satisfaction for us that over the last decade, a large number of our students have been selected for graduate studies at several prestigious institutions abroad.
