Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (V.I.T) is a highly commendable private Institute that occupies a place of pride among the premier technical institutes in the Western region of India. Established in 1984, financed and run by the Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust, it is affiliated to University of Pune, recognized by Government if Maharashtra, and is approved by A.I.C.T.E. (All India Council of Technical Education), Within a decade, Institute marched towards the pinnacle of glory through its remarkable achievements and laurels in the field of Engineering education. The Institute has won a place for itself for promoting skills in high caliber technical education. Overall it is ranked second on the basis of academic performance of the students among the Engineering colleges affiliated to the University of Pune. The college spreads over 17 acres of land comprising of academic building areas, playground, hostel and staff quarters with built up area 16,600 square meters.

It has at present 2160 students, 100 faculty members, 51 laboratories having instruments worth Rs.5 Crores and 200 administrative and technical staff.

Academic studies combined with individual and group research projects prepare the students for the professional practice of engineering. It is thus dedicated to excellence and committed to the development of bright and devoted engineers.

The college offers Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Chemical, Computer, Instrumentation, Industrial, Production and Information Technology (IT) Engineering. It also offers Masters degree M.E. in Mechanical (Heat Power Engineering). The duration of Bachelor’s degree course is four years and Master’s degree course is one and half years. The college also offers Management Courses such as DBM, MBA. It has six full-fledged Departments with faculties who are imbued with a quest to promote engineering and technical education.

Admission to undergraduate courses are based on the marks obtained in physics, chemistry, and mathematics sections in Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (HSC STD XII, under the 10+2 pattern) or equivalent examinations. The competitions is extremely keen and admission is restricted to less than the top 1.0 % of the candidates appearing for the said examination. It is a matter of justifiable pride and satisfaction for us that over the last decade, a large number of our students have been selected for graduate studies at several prestigious institutions abroad.

V.I.T. is a premier engineering institute in Pune, established in 1984. The college spreads over 17 acres of land.

The staff of V.I.T. has formed an active chapter of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).

The teaching staffs are also members of many prestigious institutions such as Institute of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), Computer Society of India (CSI) and The National Society for Remote Sensing and also authored many books of subject interest from well-known publishing houses.

V.I.T. gives great emphasis on academic development of its staff through periodic Implant Training programs to keep them abreast with latest technology.

The staff of V.I.T. has formed a “Quality Circle”, which was selected for presentation at the national level.

V.I.T. has formed a Students’ Chapter of Instrumentation Society of America (I.S.A.) in January 1996 and Indian Institute of Technical Education (ISTE), in September 2000.

V.I.T. has two lead assessors who carry out consultancy work for industries seeking ISO 9000 certification.

V.I.T. is authorized counseling center for B.C.A. and M.C.A. courses under Indira Gandhi National Open University (I.G.N.O.U.).

V.I.T. has set up a campus wide network connecting around 200 intelligent nodes to each other via UTP / Fiber Optics Link situated in four different buildings. Internet facility has been transferred to all the departments through proxy server.

V.I.T. is planning to be an Authorized Training Center for CAD / CAM software pf Structure Dynamic Research Corporation, U.S.A.

V.I.T. is a “Receiver Institute” (RI) to induct bright students to teaching profession giving Rs. 10,000/- P.M. Scholarships in the final year on behalf of A.I.C.T.E., New Delhi. Such students would be offered admission to P.G. course in I.I.T. or similar institute.
