Jesse Worker
Jesse Worker is drawn to issues of civil society involvement in contested natural resource management and policy formation. Following a growing interest in the social institutions of community-based forest management, his participation in a group master project focused on the development of attitudes and behaviors towards conservation in a Jamaican National park in the context of economic and political marginalization. This work has extended his interest towards cross-sector partnerships, management program evaluation using multiple indicators, and adaptive capacity to climate change. Prior to coming to Michigan, he studied identity formation and challenges to a social caste system in Dakar, Senegal, and worked with a Senegal-based NGO on sustainable agricultural development. He is currently interning with the Oregon Natural Step network before returning to Michigan for his final year. |
