Big nose, once badly broken. --------------------------------Background----------------------------------------- Started out as a non-guilded pickpocket in Tormau trained by an older friend with the understanding that he'd become guilded at the earliest 'reasonable' opportunity. Parents devout Agricans. At age 16 they decided that it was time to induct Karyx into the temple. Karyx ended up in an infantry training company before formal induction into temple (for disciplinary purposes). Got 6 months training in bows, longsword, mace, etc. and then goes out in 'combat tour' (mainly hunting brigands and such for training purposes). After 6 months of marching drills, slogging through mud, and occasional fighting under an asshole lieutenant, Karyx deserted in the woods while on guard duty. He got ambushed that night by thugs, and after being looted for what little he had, he joined them by claiming to be an Agrican deserter. For 4.5 years, he looted and pillaged with them, eventually rising to strike leader due to military theory and leadership skills. At the end, on the Earl of Tormau's land, he got captured while raiding a military caravan disguised as food transports. After 2 failed attempts at escaping the prisons of Caer Tormau and some serious beatings, he gave up. Three monnths later, Earl Tormau hired Karyx as a recruiter of Golothan mercenaries. Campaign begins 9 months later.... Karyx is not religious (hates priests) and has no morals or ethics to speak of. He wants money, power, and position (not necessarily in that order). Now, 6 months after beginning of the campaign, Karyx is 23 years old (looks 30) and is starting to notice, to his great chagrin, the beginnings of a conscience. It isn't much, but occasionally it gets in the way. Shit, he just gave freedom to his pleasure slave, who he COULD have sold for upwards of 1000 silver!
