Paul Bloem

My name is Paul Bloem, and I'm currently a Masters student studying Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan with a concentration in Software and Programming Languages.

I was born and raised in Cutlerville, Michigan, attending Cutlerville Christian Elementary and Middle schools and South Christian High School.

Following high school, I attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a concentration in Electrical and Computer Engineering along with a minor in Mathematics.

I have worked in the public, corporate, and higher education sectors, and loved each of them. Each area has provided a unique learning experience. Some are more service oriented, which affords the opportunity to get to know users more personally and listen to their questions and concerns in an attempt to improve a system. Others focus on application development in a concentrated fashion, with deep design and analysis of complicated problems.

My passions lie at the intersection of these two aspects of engineering, in User Interface Design, Application Development, and Web Development. I believe that by improving the small interactions a person has with technology on any given day, there is potential to improve his or her quality of life.
