Brief Bio-Sketch:

I am in my third year of graduate school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan USA, where I am a Ph.D. candidate in Bioinformatics with an A.M. in Statistics.  I am advised by Professor Alfred Hero (Dept. of EECS and Statistics) and currently working on a thesis titled “Reasoning Under Uncertainty in Spatio-Temporal Complex Networks”.  This topic involves active tracking of physical processes across large graphs under resource constraints, classification/prediction of temporal high-dimensional data, and developing tractable solutions to both.

I’ve been fortunate to be supported on a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), involving the derivation of heterogeneous and predictive, pre-symptomatic biomarkers for a variety of pathogens.  This high-dimensional data is fused to a loosely monitored social network which is used for modern disease surveillance.

My training involves substantial amount of statistics, signal processing, information theory, and machine learning acquired through research projects and course work.  This training addresses my interest in developing novel methods for extracting information from high-dimensional structured data.  For a more detailed description of my training, please see my CV.

My personal interests involve spending time with the most wonderful woman in the world, my fiance.  We love to travel and are both passionate about skiing (twin tips for me!).  I love the mountains and freshwater lakes.  While Michigan isn’t blessed with mountains, its lakes, both great and inland, are the most beautiful in the world.  Ann Arbor is a great place to live too...great restaurants, breweries, and loads of green space along the Huron river.  I spent some time in Boulder, CO, too....possibly my favorite place in the US.
