The plan for burning on our 20 acres contimues....

Most all of the 'undesireable' trees and bushes have been removed, and a inventory of plants was taken early fall '98. A second inventory will be taken in this section, summer '99.

We gave the old field a mid-summer mowing (to about 6 inches) in '98. This should decrease the dominance of Golden Rod. We shall see if this is noticable.

So we've hired David Mindell (of Plantwise Native Landscapes and Restoration) to write the prescription and lead some of the burns (eventually, most every acre of the 20 will be included in a burn cycle.
