Old Lawn

This map includes several different areas...
The Native Plant Garden, is the 1500 sq. ft. grey section in front of the house. As of fall '98, this garden is home to some 600 plants, representing 60 some species. All are native to North American prairie habitat. All but a few are native to Washtenaw County, Michigan.

5000 sq. ft., along the road and wood edges, on both sides of the yard, have been seeded with prairie grasses - both tall and short. The seed was tossed directly on the lawn grasses moments before the first snows of '97. Mowing twice this first season, once next season, these two areas will start a cycle of burn for the following few years.
