The outgoing Campaign Advisor: Off to the celebration party

Hey, we did it! Outmanned, outspent, and overshadowed in the media, we claimed a seat on the Michigan Student Assembly. Did ALF bring home the bacon? Or was it running on a solid platform that brought us the 647 winning votes? Most likely it was the relentless work of the infamous "Team" that pushed us over the top on election night.

Whatever the case, now the real work begins. I will fight hard to make sure the issues I ran on will be heard amidst the near Students First monopoly of the MSA. Although I am sure I will have to compromise my independent ways from time to time in the spirit of getting things accomplished, I will never leave the ideas and values that you elected me on.

I personally want to thank each of the 647 students who made their way to vote.www.umich.edu, and took the risk to vote for an Independent candidate. The responsibility of carrying out the agenda outlined in our platform now falls squarely on my shoulders. I fully expect you, the student body of the University of Michigan, (yes, even those who didn't vote for me, or didn't vote at all) to hold me accountable for my campaign pledges.

Thanks also needs to go to my loyal campaign team, NSCS, and my parents. Without their combined time, sweat, brains, and financial backing, I would have not been able to take my message door to door, group to group, and sorority to sorority. Thanks a lot guys.

Drop me a line from time to time when you get a chance. It could get lonely serving you on the Students First Assembly.

Sincerely,

Paul Scott; Literature, Science and the Arts Representative-Elect to the Michigan Student Assembly
