Children under 6 years of age may not be left unattended in any departments of the Ann Arbor District Library or its branches. A parent, guardian, or assigned chaperon must be within close physical proximity at all times.

• Young children may become frightened or upset if they lose sight of their accompanying adults.
• "Stranger danger" is a real possibility in any public place.
• Cuts, scrapes, bruises, and falls may occur if a child is not properly supervised.

Children under six should be within sight of an accompanying adult at all times. Children over six are left alone at the discretion of a parent, and the parent must accept all responsibility for the decision.
