AmVerse Tip #3: Author/Editor and TextPad Macros

From: Daniel J McKenna <danmcken@umich.edu>

There are a few new macros up. If your texts are like mine, I have found many occasions where "'tis" is not preceded by a space when it should be. To accelerate the process of correcting this problem I have saved a new macro to the Markup directory that replaces one instance of "'tis" with " 'tis" (that is, with a single space preceding it). Be advised, this will just as easily add more spaces to a "'tis" and that is why it replaces only one at a time (it is also case sensitive). Keystroke:
CTRL + ALT + T

Also, the computer Meade and the computer to Bill's left have three macros in the TextPad application. To access these just pull down the Macros menu and the following will appear at the bottom of the menu:

  1. "Join all lower case lines to previous."
This performs the global function in which all lines that begin with lower case letters to the previous line. The assumption is that such lines are just one part of a poetic line that the printer had to cut in half.
  2. "Find one space lines."
This finds the next instance of a line in which there is only one character space. No replace function occurs, as these usually are, in fact, poetic lines, but it should expedite the search.
  3. "Join one no-space line to previous."
You probably get the idea: this macro finds the next instance of a line without any spaces and joins it to the end of the previous line.

If other amversifiers want these three macros in their TextPad app, just email me and tell me where your computer is, or, copy the three files from the folder:

Library_hti\MARKUP\Textpad Macros
to the folder:
C:\\WINNT\Profiles\ocr\Application Data\TextPad
