AmVerse Tip #2: Author/Editor Macros

From: Daniel J McKenna <danmcken@umich.edu>

I put together a file of macros that might make your work in Author/Editor more efficient and slightly less cumbersome. Hopefully, you will find them useful and easy to use. In the interests of keeping a secure copy, I would recommend that everyone save a copy of the *.mcr file to your own AmVerse directories. If you have come across any other typical problems that could be handled more globally or more automatically, please drop me a line. You probably know the drill, but, if not . . .

  1. Get a copy of the file amversemacros.mcr, currently located in the Library_hti\MARKUP directory and place it where you can use it.
  2. When you want to use these macros in A/E, go to Special - Load Macros and point the browser to your own copy of the .mcr.
  3. If you choose to add a few of your own, make sure to save them before you close the application or they will be lost forever. As Paul has told me, be careful about choosing the hot keys for the macro action. If two operations are linked to one hot key, we could have a problem. I have been assigning CTRL + ALT + ??? hot key patterns so far and that seems to be okay (excepting, of course CTRL + ALT + DEL).
  4. Once again, some of these macros perform global changes to the file, so be careful.
