P. F. Anderson
Patricia Anderson has been the Head Librarian for the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) Dentistry Library since 1998. In this role, she consulted with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as an expert searcher for the NIH Consensus Development Conference on Diagnosis and Management of Dental Caries, and is currently serving on the Program Planning Committee for the forthcoming NIH-sponsored working conference "Dental Informatics and Dental Research: Making the Connection." Patricia regularly serves as a member of an international instructional team on evidence-based dentistry, systematic reviews, and meta-analytic methodologies. She applies a similar searching conceptual approach to her instructional, consulting, and research activities related to Internet searching.

Prior to her work with the University of Michigan, Patricia served as the Head of the Learning Resource Center of the Galter Health Sciences Library in Chicago. During her tenure there, Patricia was the chair of the HealthWeb Design Working Group, coordinating interface and design resources for the HealthWeb multi-institution project and serving on their Board of Directors for five years. It was her work with HealthWeb that led to the Megasite Project, a health Internet search engine research project for which she is the principal investigator, and which led to the concepts represented in this book.
