Mother Goose, Rhymes & Songs

Hickory, dickory, dock

Hickory, dickory, dock,
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mouse ran down!
Hickory, dickory, dock.

Dickery, dickery, dare,
The pig flew up in the air.
The man in brown
Soon brought him down!
Dickery, dickery, dare.

EDITOR'S NOTE: These are actually supposed to be two entirely different rhymes, but in my family we treat them as two verses of the same tune, so that is how I put them here. We sing this with appropriate gestures: the parent's hand makes a running mouse up one side of the baby's body, reaching the top of the head as the clock strikes one, running back down and tickling for the end of verse one. For verse two, one hand flies up in the air while the second hand chases it and eventually catches it and pushes it down to earth again.
