RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am a choice modeler interested in the intersection of marketing and operations. My research primarily revolves around improving (via methodological contributions) our ability to forecast how product line changes affect substitution patterns. I am currently developing two lines of research. The first involves relaxing many of the standard assumptions of consideration set models to account for more complex substitution patterns. The second will focus on dynamic choice processes and consumers' purchasing timing decisions. I am particularly interested in focusing on the strategic decisions consumers make when purchasing durable goods. My work in this area currently focuses on how consumers construct consideration sets in the automotive industry, and how failing to properly model this process can lead to faulty forecasts of share redistribution after product line changes. |

CURRENT RESEARCH
I am currently working with Fred Feinberg (University of Michigan) on a method for relaxing some of the standard assumptions of consideration set models, with an eye toward forecasting consumer choice in the autmotive industry--an industry that features frequent product line changes. I am also working with Fred Feinberg and Koert van Ittersum (Georgia Tech) to improve forecasting of consumers' technology adoption timing decisions using self-stated intentions and uncertainty measures. |
