Research

My thesis work is on the mathematics of subconscious vision. Topics of interest include modeling of biological systems, parallel computing, differential algebra and identifiability, computer vision, optimal control, and machine learning. I'm also always interested in particularly cute problems in linear algebra. My most recent project is the Entrain app for iPhone, one goal of which is to test mathematically optimal lighting schedules on a large human dataset.

Teaching

I have taught Math 115 (Calc I), Math 116 (Calc II), and TA'd for Math 215 (Calc III). In Summer 2014, I taught UC 170. For that course, the students and I developed "I Am Calculus", a learning suite for 105/115. You can find more about I Am Calculus here.
