Illustrated Resin Step By Step

Step Two: Painting the Pieces

  1. Now that the pieces have dried, we can paint. The major colors that Ben used for the for the Geara Doga are the following (as always, what you use is up to you):
    • Green...base coat
    • Dark Green (Emerald)...pauldrons, feet, skirt
    • Yellow...details, boosters
    • Gun Metal...cartridges, gun
    • Brass...Gun Pod
    • Black...details, guns
    • Blood Red...Mono-eye, details
  2. Keep in mind, there was a little mixing of colours to get them just right, as well as some thinner to lighted some colours.

  3. The first pieces that Ben painted were the bigger chunks, such as the legs and shoulders. For the most part, these were solid colours, so if you wish, you can easily finish these off with airbrush or spray paint (do they have Goblin Green spray?) If you are using brush however, he used a medium sized brush and approximately 2-3 coats of paint over the primed surface. This allows a nice spread of paint without any "bald" spots (too little paint) or clumps (too much paint)

  4. Why You Need At Least 2 Coats

  5. While those were drying, Ben moved on to the smaller pieces such as the backpacks, boosters and weapons

  6. Booster Back View Booster Front View

  7. Ben now adds smaller details like blinky parts, booster scorches, metal clips and buttons to the model
