Illustrated Snap Together Step By Step: Painting

The Plastic Painting Process

Step Two: Bigger and Better Things

  1. Up to now, this is what Ben has in front of him:

  2. The next move is to now take those apart (ouch) and get busy with a bigger brush. Remember again that layers work best, and if you really really really mess up, get that sander or sand paper out and voila! you've got yourself a new model to paint *grin*

  3. If your brush is too small or too big, you'll end up with lots of brush strokes for the former, and globby paint for the latter. Experiment and see what works best

  4. TIP: Because Ben didn't have certain color primers, like yellow, for instance, what he did was to paint a thin layer of a water-based on the area he wanted. He then went over that with his enamel yellow. The base helped the real layer go on much more smoothly. From what we've seen, this works much better on smaller or select parts, so I wouldn't go dunking the model in blue if you get my drift ;)
