After moving a jewelry workshop a few times, simple, stackable toolchests become an object of beauty-no matter how crude they may otherwise be. This design is intended for long-term storage and transport of moderately heavy tools.

The lid frame and box are joined with glue and screws. The top and bottom are attached with small nails and glue.

If you need an especially durable toolchest, 3/4" plywood can be substituted for the 1/4" top and bottom.

Each end has a 4-1/2" X 1" handle cut from its center. Round the edges of these holes with a file or a router and rounding bit.
