June 2007
June 21, 2007
In early June I spent a week in Grand Rapids teaching at the Michigan Training Institute. Right around the corner, and right next door to each other, are a woodworker's store and a marine store. So I came home with some new tools, and the start of Pangur Ban's electrical system.
The electrical system is partially installed. The cabin interior varnish is mostly done, and another week or two should see both masts finished out and ready to stand up.

Mast lamination on the floor blocks.
It's been beastly hot and humid all week. I've managed to get a little bit of the mast lamination done each night or in the early morning, so I'm still on schedule. If the weather stays tolerable, I should have the main mast ready to varnish before the weekend is over. I'm really looking forward to being able to pull up the floor blocks I've been using as a spar bench. They worked fine, but they are a trip hazard, and make cleaning the shop a chore.
