October 2006

Gaff ends roughed out.
October 17
September was one of the wettest months I can remember. Almost nothing accomplished outside. I did manage to get some of the house primed, and I started on the repairs to the little breezeway behind the kitchen as well as roughing in the opening for a skylight as part of the roofing project. The bank came through with some cash on the house, and the roofer will start later this month. The final plan is to do a raised seam copper roof over the center section of the original house, replace the garage roof completely, and cover the flattest section at the back of the house with Goodyear 60 mil rubber.
On the boat front: I've gotten the rudder more or less completed and the gaffs and booms almost finished. A few more coats of varnish and they'll be in storage till spring while I work on the masts. Got the masthead light last week, so now I know what to do with a cable conduit inside the mast.
