September 2006

Gaff ends roughed out.
The gaff jaws are essentially complete. Final finish work to do, then on to the booms and masts.
Much of the next bit of progress is going to be largely invisible, as it will consist of spending money and installing hardware and electrical systems.

Rudder depth adjuster.

Rudder and rudder stock.
September 18
Over the weekend I roughed out the rudder and got the two booms built and ready to finish sand.
September 29
The rudder and rudder stock are mostly assembled. The stock is bronze rod, turned variously to 3/4 inch or 1 inch, nearly 5 feet long. This is right at the limits for the lathe I have. Fortunately, really tight fits are not necessary for this part.
