A reader wrote and asked what tools he would need to build an Apple Pie. In retrospect, there really weren't that many. The mostly complete list of what I can remember needing is:

• a saber (jig) saw
• a drill and bits
• hammer
• screwdrivers
• clamps, lots of clamps
• more clamps
• sawhorses
• measuring tools and some long flexible strips of wood to lay out curves
• a block plane
• scraper
• sander and lots of sandpaper
• pliers

Nice additions would include:

• table saw
• drill press
• router
• power miter saw
