the all-seeingeyeJames McAllaster House, Portico

May, 2005

Floor boards removed with many-times sistered joists.

All the joists removed.

Trim removed.

Badly rotted sill.

Rotted modern sill.

Temporary column support and rotted modern base.

A couple of things turned up during demolition. The first is that there is extensive rot in one of the original sills under the living room. So, that will have to be re-built. The original 2X8 vertical gang-sawn redwood joists are still in place. They are too long for their dimensions, but the center 3/4 of each is salvagable.

Next stage.
