I try to compete with budget Audiphiles. I currently have a pair of B&W 602 speakers, a rotel receiver, marantz DV12s1 DVD player and Grado Headphones.
As I am on a budget and technicaly minded I am currently working on some home built electronics for my system. First a solid state headphone amplifier from HeadWize member Kevin Gilmore. I am also building a vacumm tube preamp from Bottlehead.com .I have no major complaints about the DV12S1, but it s unforunate that it is a DVD-Audio plaer in times that are tending twards universal or SACD players. In considering the output stage it is compareable to a Adcom 700 DAC in terms of sound stage and resolution. Atleast so far as I can tell with my other components.,
