Two RAs working with me this year through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) program at Michigan are:

Yaye Aida Ba is a Freshman at UM in the College of LS&A. She is mathematically oriented. She loves to learn new languages and different cultures. She has an interest in International Economics and Finance. She is fascinated by the application of economic theories and math to analyze and/or solve real world issues such as safety, jobs, and the economic stability of countries. And she finds satisfaction from the management of money, banking, credit, investments, and assets. She is currently pursuing a position in the BBA Program at the Ross School of Business with a possible double major in Computer Science Engineering, and/or a minor in French or Economics. Aida is assisting on a project exploring how network architecture and information impacts the level of trust and reciprocity among trading partners (joint work with Alessandra Cassar).

Patrick Vandenplas is a Freshman with a Pre-Business Major. He is currently considering minor in Economics, French, or International Studies. He has an interest in Development Economics. Patrick is assisting on a project using experimental methods to explore motivations for coordinated resistance in the "divide-and-conquer" game (joint work with Doug Smith).

Two former RAs who worked with me are:

Noura Hamid graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Economics and minors in both German and AAPTIS (Arab, Armenian, Persian, Turkish, and Islamic Studies). She is currently using experimental economics to look into religion as a factor in trust games. Noura has conducted research and data analysis with the Panel Study for Income Dynamics (housed at ISR), focusing on the economic causes and effects of childhood and adult obesity. She completed a Survey Research Center internship, and is applying to graduate programs in economics! She would like to continue researching economic behavior using statistical analysis as well as experimental techniques. While in graduate school, she plans to focus on testing economic theories in the lab.

Vikrum Vora is currently a junior at the University of Michigan. He worked with me through UROP for two years. He is interested primarily in the areas of economics and political science. Specifically, he would like to work as a community and economic developer, helping cities and companies to become more malleable, innovative, efficient, and globally competitive. He has a passion for fixing problems and would like to pursue redevelopment on both a domestic and international level.
