Playing in Traffic
Background
Playing in Traffic was originally conceived of during a 10 hour drive from NJ to Michigan in August
2007. I had recently finished Cut Throat, and was planning on starting a new game called Shifted.
While driving I was thinking about getting stopped by traffic lights, and realized that that could
be the premise of a quick-to-program, mildly addictive game. I decided to try to have the game finished
by mid-September so it wouldn't interfere with work/school. Unfortunately I had about a week's worth of
work left to do at that point, and no time to complete it. Over the next few months I slowly finished
the game, and by mid-December I was polishing up the final product.
Game Description
In Playing in Traffic, you control the traffic lights for a series of roads. Commuters are trying to
cross the screen, but are impeded by one or more traffic lights. You must change the lights to allow
cars through the intersections. Cars sitting at lights cause you to lose points, cars that reach their
destination cause you to gain points.
Play modes include: Score limited play (1 or 2), time limited play, and car limited play. Additionally
there are 8 different traffic patterns to play.
