Timebomb
Background
Timebomb was written during my first summer in Albuquerque. It had been about 6 months since I had
finished my previous game, and I was looking for an easy project to pass some time. Short, easy-to-
play games appeal to a wide range of people, and I have always been a fan of minesweeper, hence
Timebomb was born.
The initial version of Timebomb had a large number message boxes, and a friend of mine didn't like
them, so I updated the game. Now if the "Show Messages" check box is checked, a column with messages
is shown, and the message boxes do not appear. That same friend has featured Timebomb on his website
(the dave site) since the summer of 2005 when it was written.
Game Description
Timebomb is my take on Minesweeper. A 12 x 12 grid contains between 1 and 50 bombs, and you must
uncover all of the bombs before time runs out.
Areas can be uncovered by a slow or fast dig. A slow dig will safely uncover a bomb, but will cost you
10 seconds. A fast dig saves time, but will detonate any bomb uncovered during the dig. Each space
contains either a blank square, one or more arrows, or a bomb. The arrows point to the bomb nearest to
that space and can point up, down, left, or right. A blank space indicates that there are no bombs in
that row and column. Once all of the bombs have been uncovered, the game ends.
If the "Save high scores" check box is checked, then a file titled "timebombhs.dat" will be created in the
same location as the executable. TimeBomb.exe and timebombhs.dat must remain in the same location.
