What you need:

- Five players

- One standard deck of 52 playing cards plus two jokers (One joker must be red and the other black)

How to play:

1) The dealer shuffles the cards, offers a cut to the player to his or her right and then deals 10 cards to each player and 4 cards to the kitty. The cards should be dealt clockwise starting with the player to the left of the dealer, and the cards can be dealt to the kitty at any time.

2) Each player looks at his or her 10 card hand and bids how many tricks his or her team will take. Bidding begins to the left of the dealer and ends with the dealer. If a player does not want to bid more than the current highest bid, he or she may pass. If a player has already bid 10, a subsequent player, who wants to win the bid, may bid 20 but only must take 10 tricks to satisfy the bid. Additional bids of 30, 40, and 50 are allowed as well.

3) The winning bidder is given the kitty and must make the best 10 card hand possible. The winning bidder also asks for a card that will help his or her hand, and the player holding that card becomes the partner of the winning bidder. Finally the winning bidder chooses the trump suit.

4) The winning bidder leads a card, and play continues clockwise around the table, with each player following suit if possible. The highest trump played wins the trick, and if no trump have been played, then the highest card of the suit lead wins the trick.

5) The winner of the previous trick leads the next trick. Play continues until all 10 tricks have been played.

6) If the bidding team takes at least the number of tricks bid, then they each receive the number of points bid, otherwise the players on the blocking team receive the number of points bid.

7) The deal rotates clockwise around the table, and another hand is dealt. Play continues until a player reaches a preset number of points (typically 100). If two players break 100 on the same hand, the player with the highest score wins (if both have the same score it is a tie).
