Block Commando

Background

Block Commando was written over a two week period that encompassed my first spring break as a graduate
student. Originally I was told that I needed to come into work that week, so I didn't make any plans,
then right before the break started, I found out I did not need to go to work. I spent most of my week
off watching Firefly and writing Block Commando. The game was mostly done after 5 days, but I needed
some time to debug and I added a few extra levels (hence the second week).

I contemplated adding AI or online play since it is a two player game, but I never got around to either.
If you were really interested, Block Commando could be played over an instant messaging program.

Game Description

Block Commando is similar to games like Gorilla or Bang Bang (found back in the Windows 3.1 days).
Two opponents attempt to hit each other with a projectile by inputting an angle and a force with which
the projectile should be fired. Additionally, the players can shift their unit forward or backward to
avoid the incoming projectile. Some new features are the ability to adjust gravity and various types
of terrain (standard, unbreakable, explosive). It is completely lacking in graphics (all objects are
represented by squares), hence the name Block Commando, but it is a new take on an older game
(which did not have great graphics to begin with).
