There is one art of which man should be master, the art of reflection.

Downtown, The Entertainment District: The Place for Games
I like games. All kinds of games. Especially role-playing. This section of my homepage is dedicated to my main hobby.
Role Playing Games (RPGs)
Vampire The Masquerade
As far as role playing games go, Vampire is probably my all-time favorite. While I'm not terribly excited about the new edition and various resource books that the publisher, White Wolf, keeps cranking out, it's still a milestone game in roleplaying. It's really the first game that said, "Who your character is, is most important. And here's some nifty bells & whistles to make playing this character fun."
¡Viva, Lost Vegas!
¡Viva, Lost Vegas! is a campaign for Vampire that I'm starting up now. It has its own homepage which describes the setting for the campaign in great detail. Eventually that page will have links to the players' pages, as well as a chronicle of events occuring within the story.
Mythica
Mythica is the working name for a fantasy RPG that I am developing myself. Eventually a free startup/shareware version will be available online, in PDF format.
Computer and Console Games
I love my PlayStation.
I love it a whole lot. I hardly ever play PC-based games any more. My all-time favorite games, games I actually reply, are all Playstation titles. Here are a couple I have some advice on:
- Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
- This is, in my strongly considered opinion, the best RPG to come out for playstation, ever (with Final Fantasy VIII a close second). I have contributed two FAQs on this game to GameFAQs, as well as a detailed review. Check them out!
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- Possibly the greatest game every created for the playstation. I've replayed it at least five times and invested hundreds of hours in its near-infinite variations.
- Recently I discovered that a save game editor for Final Fantasy Tactics exists. If you have a Dex Drive, you can use this simple utility to edit your savegame. I recommend looking at the Gameshark Mechanics Guide on Gamefaqs.com as a reference as the options in
the editor's menus directly match the gameshark codes. Also, a few
codes are 'known glitches' and this can really help you avoid
pitfalls in using the editor.
- Wild Arms 2nd Ignition
- This is a fun adventure/RPG in the style of Final Fantasy. I've created a small guide to the game's
personal skills system.
I find I'm playing PC games again.
I think my taste in PC games is unusual. I like certain kinds of strategy games, and generally vastly prefer turn-based to real time. But ironically, two of the games I play the most are real-time. (Though I do pause them a lot :)
- Tropico
- This game was created by PopTop Software and distributed by GodGames. It's a simulation along the lines of Sim City in some ways, but vasty different in others. You play the newly come-to-power dictator of a small tropical island called Tropico in the 50s. You can choose to play as a number of real-world dictators ranging from Evita Perone to Fidel Castro, or create your own El Presidenté. Unlike Sim City, where you could buy a building and plop it down, your "purchase" is merely issuing the order to build and paying the funds. The building is errected in pseudo-real-time by the Tropicans working for the Construction Office. Resource management, city planning, social and economic planning are all elements. And the tropical island is really easy on the eyes to look at. There's a demo and a few scenario maps now available to download at the company's website. Check it out if you think it sounds interesting. One of these days I may put out a scenario myself :)
- The Sims
- You've probably heard of The Sims. You might call it Sim Neighborhood. You create a household of 1 to 8 Sims and manage their daily lives. Each house is a save game, and when you're playing one, the computer has the rest of the neighbors wandering by as visitors. One of the most fun elements about this game is that you get to build and decorate the houses your sims come in. It really makes me wish I'd been an architect!
- Diablo II: Lord of Destruction
- Another top-selling game. Specifically, this is the game Diablo II with the expansion pack. The expansion pack added the Druid character class which commands the spirits of nature, the elements, and the ability to become one with the animal kingdom. It's a very fun game, good for killing massive amounts of time and releasing stress. It's made by Blizzard, which even maintains a free online play network and extensive strategy website. Nice support guys!
- Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares
- This game is quite old, and long out of print. And it has never been permanently removed from my pc since it was released. It's a great turn-based strategy game of space conquest. Why, I just recently set an astronomical new all-time personal high score. I have to say this is my all-time favorite PC game.
