Marilyn Munsell McNitt's Page

I am Marilyn Munsell McNitt. I was born in Morenci, Michigan, but spent most of my childhood on the farm of my parents, Dallas and Ruth Munsell, just outside of Hudson, Michigan. In 1969, I graduated from Hudson High School and entered Adrian College, where I majored in history. I attended the University of Michigan for graduate school and earned master's degrees in history and library science.

In 1975, while still in graduate school, I began working as a volunteer at the Bentley Historical Library, which houses the University's archives and historical collections. I later was hired as a part-time student employee. After finshing graduate school, I accepted a position as an archivist at the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University. After I married Bill McNitt on May 6, 1978, at the United Methodist Church in Hudson, Michigan, I moved back to Ann Arbor. I have worked as an archivist for the Bentley Library and the Special Collections Library of the University since then. Currently I am an Associate Archivist at the Bentley Historical Library, working on the collecting and cataloging of University of Michigan publications and the archival records of the School of Engineering.

When I am not at work, I am often busy with the activities of our daughters Sarah and Rebecca. I have just completed two years as Co-President of the PTSO at Huron High School and serve on the nominations committee and in other volunteer roles at West Side United Methodist Church and am currently serving . Other interests include reading and University of Michigan sports, especially football and ice hockey.
